Nice graph, however it leans a lot on the definition of developed. Are there mesotrends for developed vs developing. Should it be defined by country (borders). Obviously China is considered developing here, whereas the parts of China with high mobile density (e.g. Beijing, Shanghai, HKG) are mre developed than e.g. the south of Belgium.

I think you need to figure out what development means. China's life expectancy is 73.5 vs Belgium 80. china's citizens average 7.5 years of formal education while Belgium 10.9, while it is expected to get 11.6 years of education in china and 16 Belgium. Then the biggest difference is the GNI china 7500 to Belgium 33,300. admittedly that is just the average in the country. If we compare urban china to rural Belgium i would estimate, Life expectancy 70 to 82, mean years of schooling 9 to 9.5, expected 12 to 12, GNI 10k to 20k. Although they might be closer in such a comparison, you could never call china more developed. You could call it more industrious without a problem, but never more developed.
